Geography
This week in Geography Year 5 your task is continue with researching where you want to build your fairground. Last week we looked at continents and by now you have chosen one where you would like to build your fairground. It will or course be either: North America, South America, Africa, Europe, Asia or Oceania. Yes, Antarctica is a continent however, we will not want to build it there will we?
Your task this week is to research 4 countries within your chosen continent. Use the questions that are being asked to assist with your research.
Are there natural disasters?
Climate? (this may be different across the country)
Capital city?
Population of the country?
Wealth – GDP per capita?
Main economy? (e.g. oil, coffee)
How many tourists each year? Main attractions?
How many fairgrounds/theme parks in the country?
Use sites like Wikipedia and Kiddle to help and record your answers on the worksheet provided below. Once it is complete, you need to choose a country where you will build your fairground. Once you have chosen your country, write a persuasive passage to why that country is the best option for you to build your fairground. Again, use the researched facts to back up your argument.
