Good morning Year 5,
Welcome to the 6th week of ISB Virtual School. We are now well underway with our new topic on Fairgrounds. Can we remind you to please upload your math's work after marking it with the answers made available on the blog from 2pm onwards. A reminder there is an MFL takeover on a Friday along with a live lesson on a Tuesday at 11.10am. If you can, it is important you join the morning meetings with your class at 8am. It is a great way to ask any questions or talk to your classmates and a good way to start your day. The new blog codes are sent to you on seesaw along with the new zoom passwords for your class.
If you need clarification with absolutely anything please just email your class teacher during the hours of 7:25am- 1:45pm or message directly using Seesaw.

SCIENCE
Hi Year 5,
Today you are going to be learning all about Friction. What is friction I hear you ask? Well, 'Friction occurs between two surfaces that slide against each other. Friction is the force that acts against you when you try to move something. The rougher the surface, the stronger the friction.
Towards the end of the lesson, you will be required to set up a 'Fair Test' to try and find what materials you have at home has the most friction. What is a Fair Test? 'A fair test is a test which controls all but one variable when attempting to answer a scientific question. Only changing one variable allows the person conducting the test to know that no other variable has affected the results of the test'.
At your own pace, work through the PowerPoint below. Complete the worksheet (attached also) and then record yourself at home completing your fair test. This is all described in the YouTube clip as well. Have fun, record your fairtest on video or photos and upload your findings on SeeSaw.
Enjoy Year 5.
