Good morning Year 5,
Welcome to the 8th week of ISB Virtual School. We are now well underway with our new topic on Fairgrounds especially the science behind it. Can we remind you to please upload your math's work after marking it with the answers made available on the blog from 2pm onwards. A reminder there is an MFL takeover on a Friday along with a live lesson on a Tuesday at 11.10am. If you can, it is important you join the morning meetings with your class at 8am. It is a great way to ask any questions or talk to your classmates and a good way to start your day. The new blog codes are sent to you on seesaw along with the new zoom passwords for your class.
If you need clarification with absolutely anything please just email your class teacher during the hours of 7:25am- 1:45pm or message directly using Seesaw.

- Lastly, don't forget to upload your amazing stories onto Seesaw, for your teachers to enjoy reading.
SCIENCE
This week in Science Year 5, your task is to build a simple mechanical devise (machine) which is 'the lever'. The lever will also be assisted by a guide, together, the lever and the guide will be used together to make a hand wave...
What is a lever? A lever is a simple machine comprised of a long beam or rod that is fixed to a pivot point (fulcrum) onto which a load is attached, and an effort force is applied.
What is a Guide? A guide is used to keep lever and linkage mechanisms in place and control movement.
Sporting events are going to be live again with ‘fake’ crowds/manikins watching the games to add a more entertaining feel to them. Your task is to build a simple machine that will assist the manikin’s wave to make the event more entertaining to us, while we watch them on tv at home.
Can you complete this mission?
