This Term, Year 5 have been looking at biography texts in English and very soon the Year 5 students will be writing their own. They are aware that biographies are written in chronological order and are about other people.
In Topic (History & Geography) we have been studying famous explorers such as Sacagawea, Jacques Cousteau, Christopher Columbus and Zheng He.
It is now time to use the skills and toolkit that have been utilized in class and put this into action. Over the weekend, we require the children to complete some research on:
- Their chosen person who they will write a biography on (someone who has inspired them e.g Walt Disney, Henry Ford, Bill Gates, LeBron James etc).
- The chosen famous explorer from above who the students will complete a detailed poster/timeline about.
Year 5, Ducksters and or Kiddle websites will be a fabulous starting point, simply search for these in your home search engine.
Once you have found some information for your explorer and biography inspired person, please print this out and bring it to school Tuesday. This way we can read through it and highlight important facts.
